The Hennepin County Park Locator application provides an easy method for finding information about community parks and their respected facilities. For more information relating to the data or application please contact gis.info@co.hennepin.mn.us

There are five options to find a park with the application. The first option (1 of 5) is a general name search. Enter the desired park name in the search box to return results. Select the park from the dropdown menu and click the search button. The map will zoom to the park and show its facilities.

The second option (2 of 5) is city name search. Select the desired city from the drop down list and the map will zoom to the city boundary and display all parks found within the city.

The third option (3 of 5) is facilities within map. This method allows for a search on specific facilities within the current map location. By using the Zoom In tool simply drag a box around the general area of interest and the map will zoom in. Next, simply choose a facility or facilities from the list box and press the search button to return a list of parks in the grid at the bottom. Each park will be labeled with a number on the map that corresponds to the number in the grid. Simply click on a park’s name and the map will zoom in and show the facilities located at the specific park.

The fourth option (4 of 5) is facilities close to home. This method allows for a search on facilities within a predefined distance from an address. Simply enter the street address and the zip or city name in the text boxes and choose the desired facility or facilities for the list box. The drop down list provides a distance to search within. Simply press the search button a list of parks will be returned in the grid at the bottom. Each park will be labeled with a number on the map that corresponds to the number in the grid. The orange house icon shows the geographic location of the address entered. Simply click on a park’s name in the grid and the map will zoom in and show the facilities located at the specific park.

The fifth and final option (5 of 5) is to navigate using the tools provided (Zoom in, zoom out, pan and identify). By selecting a map tool and using the click and drag technique the map can be moved to the desired geographic location. Clicking the identify button and then clicking on the map will return information for the specific park.
